What It’s All About
Long before I moved to the South I made a friend who grew up “down there.” One day while we were having a friendly debate she let loose with, “Don’t get your panties in a wad!” That was the most hilarious thing I had ever heard. Of course she had to explain to me what it meant. Thus was my initiation into southern culture!
I think I was destined to end up living in the South and particularly in Georgia. How else to explain my fascination with Georgia celebrities like R.E.M. and Julia Roberts? What on earth made me decide one year to vacation on Jekyll Island of all places? Fate.
The words I publish here are my observations as a person who grew up in the North but who now calls the South home. I hope both northerners and southerners alike will find something of interest here. We surely won’t always agree but that’s ok.
